Diamonds are the stone everybody thinks they already know. Here's the short version of what a lab-grown one actually is.
Same stone, different start
A lab-grown diamond is a diamond: the same carbon, the same crystal structure, the same hardness and the same look as one that came out of the ground. The difference is where it began, in a lab instead of a mine.
Why it's our standard
Our diamonds are lab-grown unless a product page says otherwise, and every product page tells you which. We chose lab-grown as our standard for a simple reason: it gives you more to choose from. Lab-grown diamonds generally cost less than comparable natural diamonds, so you can often go up a size or choose a finer stone for the same budget, in a design made for everyday wear. The DOT Solitaire Necklace, for example, comes in 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00 ct.
Natural diamonds are beautiful too, and a few of our designs, like CADENCE, use them. When they do, the product page says so.
What a diamond means
Diamonds have long stood for clarity, focus and lasting love. A lab-grown diamond carries exactly the same meaning, because meaning doesn't care where a stone started.
A diamond's job is to make light make sense. A lab-grown diamond does that, beautifully.
